This year for Spring Break, we took Amanda and 9 of her friends to the beach. We also took 2 friends of our own - Gina and Steve. The dog also went on the trip. We convoyed down in 4 very full vehicles. It seemed to take forever to get there and then before I knew it, it was time to come home. We had a great week! The weather was perfect, the kids were great, and the dog even behaved! Alan defeated Dan in tennis and the "bullet" jigsaw puzzle defeated the teenagers. There were quite a few bug bites (thanks to a mild winter), one bike crash, one bruise from the kayak, and a few sunburns. Good times!
We were about 2 hours from home when I got a text from Austin. He had smashed his toe at work, was in a lot of pain, and was going to a doctor. When he got to where he was told to go (a worker's comp location), it was closed. So he went home. It was his right toe that was hurt and he shouldn't have been driving. Nonetheless, I knew he was really hurting when he dashed out the front door as we pulled in the cul-de-sac. He was ready to go to the emergency room. Alan took him while Amanda and I unpacked. He didn't sleep much and is on prescription pain meds, but we are very thankful that he wasn't hurt worse.
